Site Redesign - version 7

patrick_austin_version_7.jpg

I’d like to proudly present the 7th iteration of PatrickAustin.com!

Since the site is hosted on a new server, I thought I would also completely change the layout of the site. Here’s what’s changed…

Wordpress has now been updated to v2.1. Included within this iteration of WordPress is the Askismet Spam Blocker. You guys haven’t seen all of the spam that gets posted to the site; normally 10 spam comments a day, or 10 automated computers responding to my writings here to bolster the rankings of other sites within the Google Search Engine. This is also the same reason you now have to be logged in to post comments to the Photo Gallery - the automated bastards were posting spam comments to really special pictures; oooh man it pissed me off! Anyway, the spam blocker has been working well and I’ve seen a small decrease in the amount of spam - probably because the Wordpress spammers now know their days are numbered. At some point, I will also integrate the Wordpress and Gallery2 logins. Currently, you still must register with WordPress in order to respond to this post, and you must register with Gallery2 in order to post comments to the photo gallery pictures.

Gallery2, the photo gallery, has now been updated with the latest tools. You won’t see much difference (beyond the layout) but there’s a ton of new features that help with administration of the site and the speed in which the photo gallery works. The WPG2 (WordPress Gallery 2) link has been updated and seems to be working well - this is what links my photo gallery together with WordPress.

Updates - I’ll be fiddling with minor revisions over the next couple weeks; where I can find time. If you see any glaring problems, click the “Register” button at the top and either login or register and then post a comment to let me know.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you like the new layout.
